Grant is a former Mixed Martial Arts fighter, and six-year kickboxing, jiu jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts coach. Grant proudly holds a jiu jitsu purple belt, a NASM Personal Trainer Certification, Corrective Exercise Certification, AED/CPR Certification, and a Mixed Martial Arts Conditioning Specialist certification. Grant has worked with clients of all ages and skill levels — from first-time gym-goers to competitive athletes.
Grant helps clients build confidence, strength, and skill through fun, functional workouts inspired by combat sports. While training with Grant clients should expect to develop their knowledge of fitness to mitigate training related injuries and prevent injuries outside of training. He believes fitness should be challenging, enjoyable, and empowering — helping each person push past limits, discover their potential, and feel unstoppable both in and out of the gym.
"I fell in love with boxing and fighting when I was sixteen years old in Lansing Mi, then moved to the UP and worked as a kickboxing, mixed martial arts and jiu jitsu coach for five years before becoming a NASM certified personal trainer and NASM mixed martial arts conditioning specialist. Now I’m hoping to bring my knowledge of training science and previous experience in high level combat sports gyms to Phoenix Training to create fun and empowering workouts to help clients achieve their goals."
